Legal Aid South Africa tries to help as many people as possible, including vulnerable groups such as women, children, the elderly, the disabled and the rural poor.
Our mission is to provide professional legal advice and representation to those who cannot afford it, through local offices, university law clinics and special litigation.
Our vision is justice for all: an independent Legal Aid South Africa within reach of every person, especially the poor and vulnerable.
Our goal is to help as many qualifying people as possible, free of charge, and to take on cases that change the law for everyone.
We look at what you earn. If your income falls below the threshold, you qualify for free professional legal help.
Some people qualify automatically, for example children in criminal matters. If you qualify, get in touch.
Legal Aid South Africa fulfils its mandate through four service delivery channels, from local offices that work like law firms to special litigation that changes the law for everyone.
Access to justice through Legal Aid SA Local Offices nationwide. Each office works like a law firm, offering advice, referrals and litigation.
